Important things to know…

Where to apply

You can apply for a Colorado marriage license at any county clerk’s office in Colorado, including Ouray County for Ridgway / Ouray or San Miguel County for Telluride, and use it for a ceremony anywhere in the state!

Validity

The marriage license is valid for 35 days from the date of issuance.

Return the license

The completed and signed license must be returned to the same clerk’s office that issued it to be officially recorded.

To get a marriage license in Colorado, both partners must be at least 18 years old and apply in person at the County Clerk’s office with a valid government-issued photo ID and the required $30 fee (cash or card, but check their policy). You will need to provide personal details like your Social Security number (or a signed affidavit if you don’t have one) and information about previous marriages, such as the date of divorce or death, and where they occurred. The license is valid for 35 days from issuance, and the completed certificate must be returned to the clerk’s office for recording.
